New Beginnings

Hello everyone!

I’m doing something I said I would never do…starting a blog. I write on other blogs and in other places, but I’ve never wanted the responsibility of managing my own blog. I like to write, but only when the mood strikes me. Keeping a blog will require that I be more intentional and consistent. It’s a new season. A new beginning. So, if we want change, we do something different. Right? What is the saying? “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results.”

Part of my purpose in starting a blog is due to the book I just wrote: Shattered: Finding Hope & Purpose in the Midst of Disappointment. I want to be able to follow the book up with additional thoughts and perhaps edits as my personal process through disappointment, grief and loss is ongoing. I wrote Shattered because I wanted to document my journey in “real-time” and let people in on the process and all the mess. I feel like that is important. All too often we read from the perspective of those who have walked this journey for years and they are writing while they look back on their process. That is a very helpful and necessary perspective. However, I think we need to see the journey in the trenches as well. We need to know that there can be joy in the process and peace in the conflict. It’s messy and it’s painful, but it’s the cost of a hopeful and purpose filled life.

I hope you will join me in this new season of new beginnings.

In Him, through Him and FOR Him,

Mark
